With the kids, the family and friends who settle there, your sofa is not protected from dirt and stains. However, cleaning non-removable fabric sofa must be carried out with some precautions. To remove dust from the sofa, avoid using a cloth. A cloth leaves streaks of dirt on the fabric. Remove the dust with a vacuum cleaner. Some sofas have, are under the fabric, trimmed canvas straps and hair that may fade away. Clean the sofa only on the surface, with a sponge or a well-squeezed cloth, that is never wet. Quickly dry with a hair dryer, and always carry out a preliminary test on a hidden spot. If you notice color bleeding, shrinkage, something glossy, looseness or pilling of the fabric, immediately change your stain remover. Favour a dry cleaning, or hire a professional for the cleaning.
Here are two ways of making your sofa new again.
Dry cleaning with baking soda. Sprinkle your sofa with baking soda. Brush the sofa to get the powder to enter the fibers. Leave it overnight. Vacuum to remove all powder. The bicarbonate deodorizes the fibers while cleaning them and brighten the colors. You can also mix 500 ml of white vinegar, 200 ml of warm water and 1 tsp. of dish-washing liquid. Soak a sponge in this solution and clean by 20 cm square, the fabric of the sofa, pressing on the spots. Rinse with a damp cloth. Apply a terrycloth in all directions. Let it dry.
